I had such a lovely time with the 5 girls who visited this week that I forgot to take their photo!
Luckily I saw Mackenzie and Ella after school on Friday to snap their photos! Welcome to these 2 girls, Mackenzie will be in Room 6 with Miss Eyre and Ella will be in Room 2 with Miss Boyd. Just as their older siblings were! We also welcome Maia, who will be in Room 3, and Samantha and Maggie who will be in Room 5 with Mrs Taylor. They all got their WHS bracelets from mr Maindonald and are looking forward to starting at school soon.

LOVING the new "instant" sandpit. The juniors are having so much fun. As time goes on this will be edged and covered but in the meantime..... we can't keep them away!

Tuesday 25 March 2014

Have you ever seen a caterpillar turning into a chrysalis? It happens very fast!! The Junior School teachers went to visit West Lynn Gardens the week before we took the classes and we were lucky enough to see it happen before our eyes!
Today Suchi and the team from Bear Park came to visit with 5 lovely girls. We can't wait to have Maggie at school with us! She will be in Room 5. They loved seeing the school pool, library and playground. They enjoyed calendar math with Room 5 and Jump Jam with the whole Junior School. Thanks for coming Bear Park!

Wednesday 19 March 2014

Today I went to West Lynn Gardens with Rooms 2, 3, 4, 5 and 28. We had a lovely time learning about the monarch and exploring the gardens.
Look at the tiny egg on the leaf! You can hardly see the tiny caterpillar that hatches from it. But it eats and eats and eats....and becomes huge!
Do you know how to tell male and female butterflies apart? Here you can see a photo of both. The males have a black dot on each wing and the females have thicker black webbing between the orange colouring.
Jahvan was an expert at telling me whether they were male or female.
Noah found two leaves which looked liked hands with five fingers!

Mr Maindonald and Mrs Nummy visit Sturges Road Kindergarten

Today I went to visit at Sturges Road Kindergarten with Mr Maindonald. He read a story to all the kids. I loved talking to all the children. It was especially nice to chat to Ella who is starting in April, and Marisa who is bringing her son Austin to Western Heights in March. See you at Jump Jam on Friday Kindy Kids!

Junior and Middle School Picnic at Cornwallis Beach

Had a wonderful day at Cornwallis today. It is so nice to take time out from the classroom and observe children interacting with their environment and enjoying each others company. The sunshine was fantastic, the water was refreshing, and the trees provided great shade and were great to climb! Thank you to all the lovely children and parents who took time out of their day to chat to me. We are so lucky to have such an awesome school family! Many thanks to Superloos in Manakau who gave us a great deal on our portaloos on a trailer. Free delivery across town, can't ask for better than that!!

School Assembly 14 February 2014

I loved seeing Room 4's Rainbow Fish at assembly this morning and hearing the lessons that the Rainbow Fish teaches us: be kind, share nicely and care for others, and then you will have lots of friends!

And then Room 3 did a fabulous pass the drum song. Well done Room 3!
